Beautiful section that is probably the most used. Expect crowds on weekends, particularly around Great Falls Tavern. This section also features some hiking trails that provide good views of the Falls and Mather’s Gorge. Be advised, that this section is prone to flooding. The Park service at Great Falls Tavern provides free bike rentals and snacks and sandwiches are available for purchase. There is also a concrete overlook opposite the Tavern. There is a relatively large parking lot at the Tavern, but on weekends it tends to fill up fast. Seneca Creek aqueduct is at mile marker 23 and is the first of 11 aqueducts on the canal.
